Making A Space Their Own

The homeowners at Venice had been living in their house for a couple of decades, dealing with the consequences of prior owners’ bricolage of additions and remodels that didn’t work well for them or modern living. They wanted to update the kitchen and living room, but didn’t know where to start or what was possible. 

After listening to their needs, Delta Design Build helped to significantly change the structure of the home and its flow. The first change was to remove a central masonry wall that separated the living room and kitchen. The next step was to remove an unused fireplace, allowing for a new door and window opening directly to the backyard, where there had previously been no access.

In addition to the major structural changes, Delta Design Build helped design and install a new kitchen, powder room, accessible laundry closet, upgraded electrical service, new exterior insulation, and siding.

Overall, the new layout, while maintaining the same footprint as the existing house, has completely transformed the owners’ experience in terms of functionality, usability, and aesthetic appeal. After years of living in a space created by someone else, they have made the space their own.
